Fall is in the Air

Fall in the Wild West

This morning we had our first hard frost, confirming that Fall is indeed in the air. Nature has a way of slowing us down due to the shorter days, cooler temps, Fall’s colorful leaves all signal chillier times are heading our way.

What do you do in the Fall? Drink Pumpkin Spice drinks? Dig out your sweaters and hoodies? I take gorgeous pictures. Colorado is a glorious place to be a photographer every day but it’s especially magical when the Aspen show off their neon golds and vibrant reds. Fall in Colorado is a much anticipated season to Landscape, Wedding, and Portrait photographers alike. This time of year, I tend to try my hand in all those specialities. I get inspired to use Nature’s time of showing off to make some incredible images.

Summer moved way too fast this year. Seems like every weekend there were at least three different events I was asked to photograph. Weddings, family sessions, rodeos, festivals, concerts and horse events all compete for every Summer weekend.

And with all that going on, I was still learning about Print Competitions and heading toward my first International Print Comp. The more I learn, the more I keep thinking, “Hmm. Did I shoot anything today that might be worthy of Print Comp?” “Did I capture any Magic?” I want to keep learning and improving my craft. I’m looking forward to getting outside with my camera and making some Fall Magic!

(Wearing hoodies and fuzzy, warm clothes and drinking spiced cider are just bonuses! Yep, cider for me instead of Pumpkin Spice please.)
